At long last, my new camera has arrived!  I pre-ordered this baby months ago, as soon as it was announced, and am only just now getting my hand on it.  I'm so excited to start playing with it - word on the the street is the files are even better than it's predecessor the 5D, which i've been shooting with for the past few years.  Higher ISO, better resolution, and HD video, which i'm really excited to start incorporating into my slideshows ;-)

Just in time for Meghann and Mark's wedding in Mexico at the end of the month - wahoo!

After much consideration, I've decided to cede my status as last remaining American not on facebook...

So go ahead, you know you want to!  Become a 'fan' of Abby Rose Photo!

I'm still trying to figure out exactly how it works - so we'll see how often I wind up updating my page ;-)

Happy Holidays everyone!  Tommy and I are off to Cleveland tomorrow for a Channukah party with my family.  mmmhhmm....latkas!

Hey Abby! I went to the Anti-workshop with you last March and was just laughing at this blog posting because I thought I was the last person on the face of the earth NOT on Facebook!! LOL! I have the same fears that you do - like blogging isn't time consuming enough!! Your work is always inspiring - thanks for always sharing it! Happy New Year!

Sooo....what is there to do when you've scheduled an engagement shoot in the middle of a winter storm?  Not much, except jump in and have fun!

You know I meant that literally, right? ;-)

These two were so much fun to photograph - just look how they crack each other up!

We shot at Jennifer's parent's house - gorgeous 15 acres!

This sled was made by her grandfather - cool, huh?  I wish someone had been there to take pictures of me - I was knee-deep in snow at this point - I think it's me they're laughing at!

I'M ENGAGED!!  YAHOOOO!!!Untitled-1.jpg

IMG_0484.jpg
I think most of you had guessed it by now (plus I have a big mouth and told just about everyone I've talked to lately) - but I wanted to wait until the ring was here to make the 'official' announcement ;-)

So there you have it!  I am getting married!

Many of you have gotten to know Tommy as he's become a bigger part of my business over the past couple of years, and I think we've both known for awhile that our partnership was headed in this direction.  This is my favorite picture of the two of us:

My friend Liza took this on the 4th of July circa 2004 - on a Hasselblad polaroid back, no less (hi Liza!).  Look at what a smitten kitten I was (who am i kidding, i still am!).  Anyhow, I look at this picture, and think about everything I've accomplished since than - growing my business, opening a gorgeous new studio, buying a house - and Tommy has been by my side for it all (well, there were those six months he moved to NYC to be a rock star - but he came back!!).  I feel like the luckiest gal alive ;-)

And I *love* my ring - I wanted something a little modern/funky - but still classic.  Plus, it was my grandmother's stone, which makes it even more meaningful.  My grandparents were married for over 60 years, and madly in love the whole time.

We haven't set a date yet - although I'm thinking 2010, since 2009 is already pretty booked.  Now I just need to lose 15 lbs, get perfect skin, and achieve 'kate arms'.   Gah - being engaged is making me crazy already!!  I'm even having irrational thoughts about teeth whitening.

OH - and first person to ask who's shooting the wedding gets a SPANKING!!!

xoxoxo

Congrats Abby! I am so excited for you! The ring is gorgeous! And who knows...if you decide Puerto Vallarta is the place to be married, I have an amazing wedding coordinator (seriously you will only stress about the teeth whitening, because that is the only thing that Carlos doesn't do - although my dentist suggested Crest whitestrips for a few months and then call if you don't like the results). Mexico in 20 days - a mini post engagement honeymoon for you guys ;)

My poor blog gets neglected once wedding season slows down!

But I've still been shooting away!  Here's a little bit of what's been keeping me busy:

First, something a little different - a commercial shoot for a local assisted living community.  They needed some general "stock-type" images for use in their newsletter, some 'compassionate care' imagery of clients and staff interacting, and some shots showing their residents enjoying life. Next up, a shoot with this adorable little fella and his family:northrop-47.jpg

And last but not least, a quick shoot with my favorite peanuts...

...that resulted in, quite possibly, the most adorable christmas cards EVER!

i've also been churning out lots of delicious album designs - i'll be sure to share some layouts soon.

And - I've got some very exciting news to share on the personal front - so stay tuned for a big announcement!!  ;-)

been awhile since I've blogged!  but not because I haven't had anything to post -- i've just been crazy busy (what else is new!).  Between hosting our first Thanksgiving, shooting a flurry of holiday sessions, and still putting the finishing touches on my new studio, I just haven't had much time!

But I digress.  Check out this adorable baby I shot this weekend!

Here he is with the folks - aren't they a stunning family!?IMG_9741T.jpg

My last wedding of 2008 - and couldn't have asked for a nicer couple to wrap up the year with.  Although, why this California couple chose to wed in November in Michigan is a mystery to me ;-)

Hard to believe 2008 is almost over and your wedding season is over! What a beautiful year of pictures. I have enjoyed every post and all the fun memories. Thank you for everything. Oh and as far as your "Not sure why I adore this shot" that is my favorite of this post. It reminds me of an ad you would see for wedding dresses or rings?!?! I too am not sure what it is, a vintage feel maybe with a bit of mystery about the bride? I cannot wait to see the new studio =-)

these two are getting married next September at the Henry Ford Museum - it's gonna be a great wedding!  They were in town recently, so we decided to get together for an engagement session.  They suggested Ashleigh's grandmother's house in Brighton, which turned out to be absolutely perfect - really stunning grounds!  Here's a couple of faves:
