michele is getting married Saturday, but we met up earlier this week to take some bridal portraits of her. I always love doing shoots like these, since on the actual wedding day there isn't always time to devote to making these sorts of images.
Anyhow - here's some favorites!
I spotted this cool setee at a neighbors house awhile back, and knew right away I wanted to use it in a shoot! I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. I just love this image - it has such a whimsical, alice-in-wonderland feel to it!

something a little moodier:

how gorgeous is michele!?

i love this sun-drenched look

thanks michele for a fun session - can't wait for the wedding on Saturday!
and special thanks to Tommy and Spencer for serving as chief couch-luggers ;-)

sean and katie are a delightful couple who's wedding i'll have the pleasure of shooting next year. We spent some time Sunday getting to know each other a bit better, exploring downtown Ann Arbor's nooks and crannies, and making some awesome images! Here are a few of my favorites:

Yummy light!

As Katie's cousin I am partial to her beauty, but the pictures you took of the two of them showed how beautiful the two of them are as people. The love they have for each other shows immensely!!!

What a fun day! Perfect weather, swanky venue, a couple in love. What more could a wedding photographer want? ;-)
Well, ok - an awesome dress helps! I loved Dana's - so unique!

the ceremony was held at the cathedral of the most blessed sacrament - one of the loveliest of the old churches downtown

I love this shot Tommy grabbed from the choir loft

this hallway was filled with the prettiest light!

hangin' with the wedding party...

who can guess where we shot these photos from? ;-)

wandering around downtown Birmingham...regular blog readers know how much I love snagging random strangers in my photos ;-)

their grand entrance!

the ballroom at the townsend looked incredible!

awesome cake by the townsend bakery

LOL - the paparazzi crush at weddings never ceases to amuse me ;-)

first dance

the always excellent newsmaker band kept the dancefloor rockin'...

Dana and Brad - congratulations! Tommy and I had a blast spending the day with you ;-)

Isn't she the cutest 2-year-old ever?! Get a load of these blue eyes!

I met Claire's mom at Ken + Jody's wedding last month, and was so excited when she called me to schedule a family session!

What a cute family ;-)

mom and dad aren't too bad lookin' either - I see where Claire got those eyes!

Tabitha and Erica were married on Saturday, and it was such a fun wedding to shoot! Two gorgeous brides, two amazing dresses - it was like I'd died and gone to wedding photographer heaven ;-)
Erika's dress was so flouncy and pretty!

Tabitha's dress had exquisite detailing - and they complimented each other perfectly!

They decided to see each other before the ceremony to maximize our time for creative portraits. I'm always so happy when couples chose to do this!

Some pretty details at the church

*love* this shot of them walking up the aisle together!

And they're married!

In between the ceremony and reception we stopped in downtown Lansing for some celebrating and some more pictures
this was taken at a downtown bar - I LOVE that there are random people in there - i think it's such a fun image!!

My favorite!!

And a sneak peak of the rockin' reception

Erika and Tabitha - what can I say!? You guys know I just adore you both ;-) It was so wonderful watching you get married surrounded by all of your friends and family - you are lucky to have such awesome people in your lives! Thanks again for choosing me to photograph your day - hope you enjoy the sneak peak!!

vacation? in the middle of wedding season!? that's right folks! I'm headed out bright and early tomorrow to spend the week getting some (much needed!) R&R! My mom and me are having a girls getaway at canyon ranch! anyone who knows me knows what a spa junkie I am. there are few things I enjoy more than getting pampered - and canyon ranch is pretty much the mecca of spas - I am beyond excited! I'll be spending the week getting ridiculously indulgent treatments like body thermal wraps and energy renewal therapy ;-)
so - this means I will be less reachable than usual this Monday through Friday. I will have my phone and laptop on me, so don't hesitate to get in touch - just know it may take me a bit to get back to ya. but fear not - those of you still waiting for your slideshows/proofs/albums/etc - hang in there! i'll return totally refreshed and ready to dive back in!
thank you to ALL my fantastic clients for their patience and understanding!

....with my new washer and dryer!! Is that wrong?
oh sweet, sweet whirlpool duet...you bring me such joy with your sleek design and steam refresh setting....

As you can see, operation 'pimp my laundry room' is well underway! We decided to paint a bright primary blue - because, well, we can ;-) We've been so indecisive with colors for the main areas of the house, it was nice to just make a choice and GO!

and look! We *finally* got a table! After (i kid you not) 7 months of looking and saving, we decided on this bent plywood beauty from bludot. I *love* it!!

now we just need to find some chairs that are worthy ;-)

I'm leaning towards one of these bright yellows for the dining room walls - maybe with one grey accent wall. I'm loving yellow and grey together these days!

thoughts? ideas? anyone feel like playing interior designer with me? ;-)

We obviously LOVE the idea of contrasting colors in the house! Especially opposite walls! Great idea! I always have wanted to do a room all one color. then have an eye level stripe of a different color all the way around. That could work for ya!

I met Liz and Douglas awhile back while they were in town to show off their gorgeous new baby girl (they live overseas).
We got together with some of their family in the arb while the peonies were in full bloom - what a gorgeous spot for some photos.
Here's a few of my faves from our session
How cute is she?!

With dad

and mom

I just *adore* this photo of all the cousins together!

Here's Owen T

And the pretty miss Nina!

Our attempt at a whole family portrait yielded some fun results:

and one for the road...
